If you are an educator looking for original stories and activities to use in your elementary guidance lessons, you have come to the right place! I am the author of 9 books filled with ideas you can use with your students. My books are written in a clear style, giving you instructions what to say, how to say it, and the best thing is that you will not need any other resources!
As an elementary school counselor, I spent so much time trying to gather materials to use for classroom guidance sessions, that I decided to create my own lessons. I made up stories, songs, raps, rhymes, and games to teach topics that met the American School Counseling Standards. My students enjoyed and seemed to relate to the characters in my stories who faced the same challenges that they were facing. And I found that when the characters in the stories learned how to solve their problems, my students learned right along with them!
After being asked again and again to share my ideas, I submitted some lessons to Marco Products, a publisher of counseling materials written by counselors. This submission resulted in my first book, Lively Lessons for Classroom Sessions, being published in 2002. The day I held that book in my hands was the most thrilling of my whole life! Those 19 lessons have now been used by elementary counselors across the U.S. and other English speaking countries for 11 years. I am filled with awe, knowing that my words have reached so many children.
